Young Ravens are the children of Ancient Cauldron who are learning the "Craft of the Wise".
They begin by learning the very simple basics, respect, responsibility, honesty, the God & Goddess the Elements, the energies of the Sun and Moon, Seasons of the year, Sabbats, Life & Death. They learn about connecting with nature, etc.

Teaching Children & Teens the Ancient Ways

When a Pagan, Witch or Wiccan has a child, a "baby blessing" or "wiccaning" is done. This is similar to a baptism. A ritual ceremony is held and the child is blessed, those in attendance become spiritual guardians for the child, thus the child may have one, two or twenty or more spiritual guardians. Each guardian bestows a special "energy" gift of their "craft" (talent or ability) and will be responsible for teaching that "craft" to the child as the child grows. These guardians would also always be available for the child should the child need them. This is also similar to the "god parents" of other religions.

Pagans, Witches and Wiccans do not proselytize, they do not force their beliefs on others and especially not their children!

Pagan, Witch and Wiccan parents, do however, lead by example, explaining what and how they do things from the simplest of tasks to the major ones as the children mature. Each child grows and matures at their own pace and thus each child's age should be taken into consideration with the teachings.

The Pagan, Witch or Wiccan parent(s) teach morals and ethics. Children are also taught:

- To respect everyone and everything.
- How precious and sacred life is.
- Responsibility, that they are responsible for their thoughts, words, deeds, actions and all the choices they make.
- About Karma and the "Law of Return", the "Wiccan Rede".
- That nature is a Teacher.

Children see and hear a lot of different things. They are much more aware of what's being said around them than we think they are. Children always ask a lot of questions especially when their interest is peeked by hearing conversations about religion or spirituality. Their questions must be answered with simplicity and be brief. If the child wants to know more, then more questions will follow. We should not drag out our explanations. When the child stops asking questions, they are done listening for that time. We must be patient and remember that children learn a lot from watching and observing. They may see a family member, friend or neighbor kneel down and pray, or ask about the Cross, Rosary, Pentacle or Star of David someone is wearing. They are curious, and as a Pagan, Witch or Wiccan parent we do our best to answer their questions and teach them with an open mind and attitude, about not just our own religious spiritual tradition but about the many other paths of our tradition. The parent also usually teaches about other religions and spiritual beliefs as well.

Pagan, Witch, Wiccan children are given the openness to seek and learn of all things, all cultures and when the child "comes of age", usually the age of 12 or 13, although this varies from child to child its up to the parent to determine if the child is mature enough, the child then chooses the religious belief he or she wishes to follow. This is done during a "coming of age" ritual and ceremony. The child may choose a path then change their mind along the way, maybe even several times before finding what is actually right for them. They will know when one is the right one for them when they feel comfortable with it, they will feel a sacred balance deep within.

Children are taught to honor their chosen path, whatever it may be.
